Letterbox collection

Some of the letterboxes and postboxes of Australia and beyond, the plain, the fancy, the weird, the wonderful, the utilitarian and the whimsical. I’ll be adding more.

Here are some more letterboxes. These were photographed by Ruth Carolane in Tasmania. Thanks for permission to post these Ruth.

IMAG0158

When our local neighbourhood postbox suddenly disappeared, this poster appeared on a pole near where the postbox used to be. The poster was put up in the darkness of night but had disappeared by 9.00 the next morning. Did the same people take the poster as those who took the postbox? A mystery! Australia Post is cutting back its services so we’ve drawn our own conclusions about the culprit. But are we right? (August 2014)

Here’s a link to a very different letterbox. I hope this link works!

Yes, this is a letterbox! This Tardis letterbox is near Geelong, Australia and even emits a tardis type sound.

In the same street as the Tardis letterbox. Look for the horses in this stable.

Yet another fancy letterbox in that street near Geelong. Moo!

Thanks to my friend, Merryn, for the following two letterbox photos. I’m not sure where the first one comes from but the second one is somewhere in suburban Melbourne, Australia.
