‘The Peace of God’ – a song

This is a song that I wrote last year. I wrote the words and Nick Flynn did a great job in putting it to music. Here Nick sings it with his wife Elisa doing the harmonies and saxophone. Nick is playing  guitar.

The song is based on  Philippians 4:6-7 from  the Bible.

Here’s the link so you can hear it. The words are below.

Here are the words:

The Peace of God

1. Do not be anxious about anything at all,

But just remember on whom you can call.

With a heart of thanks offer up your prayers,

And all your requests to our God who really cares.

2. With the Lord in place at the centre of your heart.

Worry is displaced and your fears will depart.

The peace of God, far better than we can understand,

Will guard your heart and mind like a strong gentle hand.

Repeat Verse 1

Based on Philippians 4:6-7

  1. How beautiful, Ellen. The words and music are so comforting. Indeed the poem captures the heart of Philippians 4:6-7. Thank you for sharing this beautiful song. Blessings, Dee

  2. Thanks so much Dee.
