It’s a risk

It’s a risk to put your life
woman-borne
heart-worn
into the hands of God.

Human-wise it is mad
unafraid
self-made
to give up your control.

It’s a risk to put your plans
self-wrought
pleasure-sought
in the control of God.

It’s a leap of mortal faith
eyes wide
hope supplied
to truly follow Him.

Deep within us there’s a place
cavern-gaped
God-shaped
spirit seeking Spirit.

In our souls a restless ache
Creator-set
un-met
for the joy of Him.

He took the risk, gave His life
unstained
death-pained
impaled upon a cross.

Drop your guard and welcome Him
risk-taken
world-shaken
as Saviour and as Lord.

Let His love take over your
self-led
strong-head
wilful life, as King.

Let his Spirit take control
deep-seated
grace-meted
sweet inner peace embed.

Take the risk to offer him
whole-body
full-heart
your mind and soul in love.

Follow in His adventure
long-sighted
God-righted
along His perfect way.
